Job Title: Solar PV / Inverter Technician

Role Overview:

Schmidhauser Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Solar PV / Inverter Technician to join our growing Renewable Energy Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including inverters, battery storage units, and associated electrical components.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all solar installations are compliant, safe, and operating efficiently in line with SANS regulations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and commission solar PV systems, inverters, and battery storage solutions
  • Perform routine maintenance and fault-finding on solar and inverter systems
  • Diagnose electrical and communication faults within PV systems
  • Conduct system performance testing and reporting
  • Ensure installations comply with SANS 10142 and relevant regulatory standards
  • Perform system upgrades and inverter replacements where required
  • Assist with site inspections, technical assessments, and quotations
  • Ensure safe isolation of DC and AC systems during maintenance or repair

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and certifying gas installations in residential and commercial properties in accordance with the relevant South African gas regulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of gas installations in homes and buildings to ensure compliance with SANS 10087 and other relevant regulations.
  • Test gas systems for leaks, pressure compliance, and safety.
