The SKA array is the Square Kilometer Array which South Africa hopes to be awarded during year 2010. It will be a world funded radio satellite which will probe the universe. South Africa or Australia will be the preferred country to house the final system. At the moment there are 7 satellites and back up infrastructure. The final array will be in excess of 500 satellites. Schmidhauser were selected to inspect and complete the Certificate of Compliance for the existing seven units plus the back up containers which are necessary to relay information to and from the satalites.
The SKA is situated 100 kM from Carnarvon at the very centre of the Karoo.
