A poorly funded government school with little or no lighting. Plugs were dangerously hanging out of walls and vandals had stolen a large portion of copper earthing and wires. The risk of electrical shock to our young learners was a very real possibility when the installation was first surveyed. We were horrified when the headmistress told us stories about thieves breaking into ceilings to steal anything of value.
The schools electrics were upgraded and the children will be very happy this winter to see their work on those cold and wet mornings.
The initiative was a group effort with Ms. Jewel Harris from Growthpoint, the Department of Education SA, Rudewaan Sulaiman, Shahid Mohammed, Daniel Schmidhauser all from - Schmidhauser Electrical
We all felt really proud to be a part of building a brighter South African future for our children.
